Thokan & Associates is a new chartered accountancy firm operating in Howick. The owner and key individual is, Aslam Thokan. Having grown up in Lions River (Thokans Cash Store), I am familiar with most businesses in the Midlands region. Growing up with business minded individuals paved the foundation to sound business principles. Having matriculated in 2001, I further studied at the University of KwaZulu-Natal after achieving my BCom Honours (Accounting), I served my articles at a local chartered accounting practice. This was my first venture into the working environment (outside of the family run business). I gained valuable experience in a vast range of financial services with the key focus in the areas of accounting, tax and auditing.

After just over 4 years of working experience in Howick, I moved on to a bigger firm in Pietermaritzburg. It was there where I gained lots of exposure to medium and big sized entities. In recognition for my outstanding work and dedication, I got promoted from a senior manager position to a director within 6 months. Having worked for 2 years in the position of director, I decided to move back closer to home and start my own practice.

My aspiration to offer clients the personal service with the highest level of integrity, honesty and professionalism, motivated me to opening my practice in Howick. In staffing the practice, I sourced likeminded professionals, who adhere to these principles. These individuals have extensive knowledge in the accounting and auditing field. Their experience and passion have driven them in joining me in this new and exciting venture.
